Exercise 61 Page 143

0.6

Practice makes perfect
In the percent proportion, the ratio of the part a to the whole b is equal to the percent p written as a fraction. a/b=p/100 Given any two of these three variables, we can find the third one. In this exercise, we are given the values p= 20 and b= 3, and we are looking for the value of a.
a/b=p/100
a/3=20/100
a/3=1/5
a=1/5*3
a=3/5
a=0.6
This means that 0.6 is 20 % of 3.
