In the percent proportion, the ratio of the part a to the whole b is equal to the percent p written as a fraction. a/b=p/100 Given any two of these three variables, we can find the third one. Since we are asked what percent? we will find a percent. We are given the values a= 96 and b= 36, and we will solve for the percent p.
a/b=p/100
96/36=p/100
8/3=p/100
8/3* 100=p
800/3=p
p=800/3
p=266.666666...
p≈ 267
The percent is approximately 267 %.
