Exercise 16 Page 141

94.5

Practice makes perfect
In the percent proportion, the ratio of the part a to the whole b is equal to the percent p written as a fraction. a/b=p/100 Given any two of these three variables, we can find the third one. In this exercise, we are given the values p= 63 and b= 150, and we are looking for the value of a.
a/b=p/100
a/150=63/100
a=63/100 * 150
a=63*150/100
a=63*3/2
a=189/2
a=94.5
This means that 94.5 is 63 % of 150.
