Exercise 36 Page 142

What are we finding? A base.
b=24

Practice makes perfect
In the percent proportion, the ratio of the part a to the whole b is equal to the percent p written as a fraction. a/b=p/100 Given any two of these three variables, we can find the third one. Since we are asked of what number? we are trying to find the base. We are given the values p= 250 and a= 60, and we will solve for b.
a/b=p/100
60/b=250/100
60/b=10/4
60 = 10/4*(b)
240=10b
10b=240
b=24
The base is 24.
