Exercise 25 Page 141

22.5

Practice makes perfect
In the percent proportion, the ratio of the part a to the whole b is equal to the percent p written as a fraction. a/b=p/100 Given any two of these three variables, we can find the third one. In this exercise, we are given the values p= 60 and a= 13.5, and we are looking for the value of b.
a/b=p/100
13.5/b=60/100
13.5/b=3/5
13.5=3/5* b
13.5=3b/5
67.5=3b
22.5=b
b=22.5
This means that 13.5 is 60 % of 22.5.
