What does it mean when an equation has only one variable term?
Let's use this equation and substitute a few arbitrary values for x. Doing so will generate some coordinate pairs for us to use in our graph.
x | 0x+1y=-2 | Simplify | (x,y) |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 0( 0)+1y=-2 | y=-2 | ( 0,-2) |
2 | 0( 2)+1y=-2 | y=-2 | ( 2,-2) |
4 | 0( 4)+1y=-2 | y=-2 | ( 4,-2) |
6 | 0( 6)+1y=-2 | y=-2 | ( 6,-2) |
Now we will plot these points and connect them with a line to form our graph.
