Exercise 10 Page 194

Substitute the given points into the Slope Formula, m= y_2-y_1x_2-x_1.

8/3

Practice makes perfect
We can calculate the slope by substituting the given points into the Slope Formula. m = y_2-y_1/x_2-x_1 In this equation, ( x_1, y_1) and ( x_2, y_2) represent two points on the line. Note that it does not matter which point we use for ( x_1, y_1) and which point we use for ( x_2, y_2). The result of using the Slope Formula will be the same.
m = y_2-y_1/x_2-x_1
m=2-( -6)/7- 4
m=2+6/7-4
m=8/3
The slope of the line that passes through the given points is 83.
