To find the amount of the check you forgot to record, which we can call C, we need to find the difference between the balance you had written in your checkbook and the balance you actually had on your statement. Checkbook balance- Actual balance=CNow we can substitute the given values into our equation and solve for C.
Checkbook balance- Actual balance=C

C=42
