Exercise 24 Page 65

Use that A=Ď€ r^2 to find the area.

9/64Ď€ in.^2

Practice makes perfect
To find the area of a circle, we need the radius of the circle. We know that this circle has a diameter of 34inches. By dividing the diameter by 2, we can find the radius of the circle. r=d/2 ⇒ r&=.3 /4.in./2 r&= 3/8 in. Now, we are able to find its area.
A=Ď€ r^2
A=Ď€*( 3/8)^2
A=Ď€*3^2/8^2
A=Ď€*9/64
A=9/64Ď€
The area is 964Ď€ inches^2.
