Use the Substitution Method to solve the system.

We can use the Substitution Method to solve the system of equations. Since the exercise only asks for the x-coordinate, we do not need to solve for y. We just need to isolate y, substitute, and solve for x.
2x+3y=144 & (I) y-x=24 & (II)
2x+3y=144 y=x+24
2x+3( x+24)=144 y=x+24
2x+3x+72=144 y=x+24
5x+72=144 y=x+24
5x=72 y=x+24
x=14.4 y=x+24
The x-coordinate of the solution to the system is 14.4.
