Exercise 4 Page 270

Use the Multiplication Property of Equality to eliminate the division.

x=15

Practice makes perfect
To solve the equation, we have to isolate x on one side. Using the Multiplication Property of Equality, we will multiply both sides of the equation by 5. This will eliminate the denominator of the fraction.
2/5x=6
2x/5=6
2x/5* 5=6* 5
2x=6* 5
2x=30
Now, we will use the Division Property of Equality to eliminate the multiplication and isolate x.
2x=30
2x/2=30/2
2x/2=30/2
x=30/2
x=15
