Exercise 3 Page 270

Use the Multiplication Property of Equality to eliminate the division.

x=6

Practice makes perfect
To solve the equation, we have to isolate x on one side. Using the Multiplication Property of Equality, we will multiply both sides of the equation by 3. This will eliminate the denominator of the fraction.
4x/3=8
4x/3* 3=8* 3
4x=8* 3
4x=24
Now, we will use the Division Property of Equality to eliminate the multiplication and isolate x.
4x=24
4x/4=24/4
4x/4=24/4
x=24/4
x=6
