Exercise 29 Page 204

What makes a sequence arithmetic?

Not an arithmetic sequence.

Practice makes perfect

When a sequence is arithmetic, the difference between any two consecutive terms is constant. By examining our sequence, we can see that this is not the case. 48 +( - 24) ⟶ 24 +( - 12) ⟶ 12 +( - 6) ⟶ 6 ⟶ ... Therefore, the sequence is not arithmetic.
