y/4-3+3=- 4+3

Add terms

y/4=- 1

Next, we can continue isolating y by multiplying both sides of the equation by 4.

y/4=- 1

LHS * 4=RHS* 4

y/4* 4=- 1* 4

y=- 1* 4

Multiply

y=- 4

The solution to the equation is y=-4. We can check our solution by substituting it into the original equation.
