a We are told that 100 students were surveyed about the sports they play. The results are shown in a circle graph.

We are asked to explain why the graph is misleading. Since a circle graph shows data as parts of a whole, the total of the numbers in the circle graph must be equal to 100. Let's add them to see if this requirement is fulfilled. 33+ 37+ 12+ 20+ 18 = 120 Students We can see that total of the numbers in the circle graph does not match the total number of students surveyed. Therefore, this is why the graph is misleading.

b Note that each sport is a different category. Therefore, a bar graph would be appropriate to display this qualitative data. Please note that this is only one of the many possible ways to display the data.
