Exercise 14 Page 626

The area of a trapezoid is one half the product of the height and the sum of the bases.

150cm^2

Practice makes perfect
The area of a trapezoid is one half the product of its base and the sum of its bases. We have been given that the lengths of the bases are 12 and 18 centimeters and that the height is 10 centimeters. Having the height and the lengths of the bases, we can substitute them into the formula for the area of a trapezoid.
A=1/2h(b_1+b_2)
A=1/2(10)( 12+18)
â–Ľ
Evaluate right-hand side
A=1/2(10)(30)
A=(10)(30)/2
A=5(30)
A=150
The area of the trapezoid is 150cm^2.
