Exercise 6 Page 46

Rewrite the expression so that all of the numbers are fractions.

2/3

Practice makes perfect
Before we evaluate the expression, let's first rewrite it so that all of the numbers are fractions.
3 Ă· 4 12
3/1 Ă· 4 12
3/1 Ă· 4 * 2+1/2
3/1 Ă· 8+1/2
3/1 Ă· 9/2
Now, dividing fractions is the same as multiplying the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction. 3/1 Ă· 9/2 = 3/1 * 2/9 When multiplying fractions, remember that the product of two fractions is equal to the product of the numerators over the product of the denominators.
3/1*2/9
3 * 2/1 * 9
6/1 * 9
6/9
6/3/9/3
