Exercise 11 Page 46

Rewrite the expression so that all of the numbers are fractions.

25/41

Practice makes perfect
Before we evaluate the expression, let's first rewrite it so that all of the numbers are fractions.
2 12 Ă· 4 110
2 * 2+1/2 Ă· 4 * 10+1/10
4+1/2 Ă· 40+1/10
5/2 Ă· 41/10
Now, dividing fractions is the same as multiplying the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction. 5/2 Ă· 41/10 = 5/2 * 10/41 When multiplying fractions, remember that the product of two fractions is equal to the product of the numerators over the product of the denominators.
5/2 * 10/41
5 * 10/2 * 41
50/82
50/2/82/2
25/41
