{{ printedBook.courseTrack.name }} {{ printedBook.name }} Numeric, or numerical, expressions only contain operations involving numbers. Consider these example expressions.

Expression | Numeric? |
---|---|

$5+3-2\cdot8$ | ${\color{#009600}{\huge{\checkmark}}}$ |

$9w^2+4s+7$ | ${\color{#FF0000}{\huge{\times}}}$ |

The first example above is a numeric expression because it only contains numbers and operations between them. The other expression, however, contains variables. Therefore, it cannot be a numeric expression, but instead is an algebraic expression.
