If we label the angle the ladder makes with the ground θ, we can draw the following diagram.

The ladder, the side of the house, and the ground make a right triangle. Since we have been given the hypotenuse and opposite leg to to the given angle, we have to use the sine ratio to determine the angle. sinθ=Opposite/Hypotenuse Let's substitute the given measurements into the equation and solve for θ.
sinθ=Opposite/Hypotenuse
sin θ=7/8
Solve for θ

sin^(-1)(LHS) = sin^(-1)(RHS)

θ=sin^(- 1)7/8
θ=61.04497...^(∘)
θ≈ 61^(∘)
The ladder makes about a 61^(∘) angle with the ground.
