In this case, we will start by using the Addition Property of Equality to remove the variable term from the left-hand side of the equation.

LHS+6x=RHS+6x

-6x-13+6x=- x-23+6x

Add terms

-13=5x-23

LHS+23=RHS+23

-13+23=5x-23+23

Add terms

10=5x

Rearrange equation

5x=10
