Exercise 6 Page 501

Remember, the plane must contain point B.

Example Answer: Plane BAF

Practice makes perfect

We have a diagram. We want to find the plane(s) that contain point B and are parallel to plane CDH, let's think about the location and direction of this plane.

Plane CDH is the vertical, back panel of the aquarium. Now we will recall the definition of parallel planes.

Parallel Planes

Two planes are parallel if they never intersect each other, similar to parallel lines.

By the definition, any plane parallel to CDH must be vertical as well. Because we also need the plane to contain point B, there is only one plane that fits this description. It is the plane containing points B, A, F, and E.

From here we will name the plane. To do so we only need three points, so there are several correct ways to write the name of the plane. Here we have listed just a few. cc BAF & BAE FAB & ABE
