Exercise 20 Page 913

What can possibly happen when throwing darts at targets?

See solution.

Practice makes perfect
We are asked to think about the assumptions we need to make when designing a simulation where darts are thrown at targets. Sometimes in a real situation the object can land outside the target area or a player can have a tendency to throw within a particular area.

However, when we perform a simulation we need to minimize such factors to make the outcomes of our simulation as random as possible. Therefore, we should assume that the object lands within the target area and that it is equally likely that each dart will land anywhere within the whole region.
