To determine the distance between two points, we use the Distance Formula. The coordinates of the given points are T(13,1.6) and V(5.4,3.7).

TV = sqrt((x_2-x_1)^2 + (y_2-y_1)^2)

SubstitutePoints

Substitute ( 13,1.6) & ( 5.4,3.7)

TV=sqrt(( 5.4- 13)^2+( 3.7- 1.6)^2)

Subtract terms

TV=sqrt((- 7.6)^2+2.1^2)

Calculate power

TV=sqrt(57.76+4.41)

Add terms

TV=sqrt(62.17)

The distance between T and V is sqrt(62.17). Using a calculator we can estimate that it is about 7.9.
