Gather all of the variable terms on one side of the equation and all of the constant terms on the other side.
v=5
To solve an equation, we should first gather all of the variable terms on one side and all of the constant terms on the other, using the Properties of Equality. In this case, we start by subtracting 10 from both sides of the equation.
.LHS /(- 1).=.RHS /(- 1).
- a/- b=a/b
Rearrange equation
We can check our solution by substituting it into the original equation. If doing so results in an identity, our solution is correct. An identity is when both sides of the equation are exactly the same.
Since the left-hand side and right-hand side are equal, we know the solution is correct.
