To solve an equation, we should first gather all of the variable terms on one side and all of the constant terms on the other, using the Properties of Equality. In this case, we start by subtracting 10 from both sides of the equation.

5=10-v

LHS-10=RHS-10

5-10=10-10-v

Subtract terms

We continue isolating v by dividing both sides by - 1.

Rearrange equation
