Exercise 3 Page 606

Use the formula to find the area of a circle.

About 0.50 cm^2

Practice makes perfect

We are given a circle with a radius of 0.4 centimeters.

Our mission is to find the area of ⊙ C, for which we will use the following formula. A = π r^2 Thus, to find the area we substitute r=0.4 into the formula above.
A = π r^2
A = π ( 0.4)^2
Simplify
A = π (0.16)
A ≈ 0.5
In consequence, the area of ⊙ C is approximately 0.50 cm^2.
