This is an increase in the amount. 300lb-220lb= 80lb The difference between the weight at 1 month and the birth weight is 80lb. Now we can use the formula.
Percent change=Increase in weight/Birth weight
Percent change=80/220
Percent change=4/11
Percent change=0.36
Percent change = 36.36 %
Percent change = 36 %
The increase in weight is 36 %.
