With this in mind, let's take a look at the given graph.

From the graph we can observe two things.

  • As x increases in absolute value, the graph approaches the horizontal line y=2. This is the horizontal asymptote.
  • As y increases in absolute value, the graph approaches the vertical line x=0, which is the y-axis. This is the vertical asymptote.
