If the given equation is a linear equation, it will follow the standard form. Ax+ By=CIn this form, A, B, and C are constants and either A or B must be nonzero.
y = 4x^2 + 3x
y - 3x = 4x^2
Writing the given equation this way, we see that something is different. 1y- 3x= 4x^2 There is a x-term with an exponent. Because of this, the equation cannot be written in standard form and is therefore not linear.
