Equations in standard form are written in a specific format. Ax+ By= CIn this form, A, B, and C are integers, and A and B cannot both be zero. We will use the Properties of Equality to rewrite the given equation in this form.

y+3=-5(x+1)

Distribute -5

y+3=-5x-5

LHS-3=RHS-3

y=-5x-8

LHS+5x=RHS+5x

5x+y=-8

Now we can compare this result with the general standard form equation. Ax+ By&= C 5x+ 1y&= -8
