To write a percent as a fraction, write the number part as a numerator over 100. To write a percent as a decimal, move the decimal point two places to the left and remove the percent symbol.

Example Fraction: 15/4
Decimal: 3.75

Practice makes perfect

Fractions, decimals, and percents are three ways to show parts of a whole. We want to write a percent as a fraction and as a decimal. Let's do these things one at a time.

Fraction

To write a percent as a fraction, we write the number part as a numerator over 100. 375 %=375/100Then, if possible, we simplify the fraction.
375/100
375Ă· 25/100Ă· 25
15/4
We found that 375 % expressed as a fraction is 375100, or 154.

Decimal

To write a percent as a decimal, we ignore the percent symbol and move the decimal point two places to the left.
percent as decimal: 3.75
We found that 375 % expressed as a decimal is 3.75.
