We are asked to write three conditional statements from the given Venn diagram. To do so, we will identify a fact from the diagram, identify the hypothesis and conclusion, and finally write the conditional.

Fact 1

From the diagram, we can see that each person who is a musician in the high school is either in chorus or band. Let's identify a hypothesis and a conclusion.

&Hypothesis: A person is a musician in the high school &Conclusion: That person is either in chorus or band

Now that we have identified the hypothesis and conclusion, we can form the conditional. Please note that there are other conditionals that could be formed from the given Venn diagram.


If a person is a musician in the high school, then that person is either in chorus or band.

Now let's focus on another fact from the Venn diagram.

Fact 2

A person that sings in a chorus is not in a band. We know this because the groups for chorus and band do not overlap. Therefore, no person exists who is in both chorus and band simultaneously.

&Hypothesis: A person sings in chorus &Conclusion: That person is not in band

Now that we have identified the hypothesis and conclusion, we can form the conditional.

If a person sings in chorus, then that person is not in band.

Now let's find a third and final fact from the diagram.

Fact 3

A person in Jazz band is not in chorus. We know this because the groups for chorus and Jazz band do not overlap.

&Hypothesis: A person is in Jazz band &Conclusion: That person is not in chorus

Now that we have identified the hypothesis and conclusion, we can form the conditional.

If a person is in Jazz band, then that person is not in chorus.
