Note that a straight angle measures 180 ^(∘). If we divide such an angle in half, we get two 90 ^(∘) angles, neither of which are obtuse. If we increase one angle to be obtuse, then the other angle must shrink and becomes acute. Thus our friend is incorrect as we can have at most one obtuse angle.
