Gather all of the variable terms on one side of the equation and all of the constant terms on the other side.

All real numbers

Practice makes perfect
To solve an equation, we should first gather all of the variable terms on one side and all of the constant terms on the other side using the Properties of Equality.
-2+5x-7=3x-9+2x
-9+5x=5x-9
-9+5x-5x=5x-9-5x
-9=-9
The equation reduced to a statement that will always be true. This is called an identity. This means that the solution is all real numbers.
