Exercise 49 Page 779

An arc is a part of a circle. A major arc is larger than a semicircle, and we name it by its endpoints and another point on the arc.

Example Solution: QTR, TRQ, SQT, RQS, RQT

Practice makes perfect
An arc is a part of a circle. One type of arc, a semicircle, is half of a circle. A major arc is larger than a semicircle. We name a major arc by its endpoints and another point on the arc. Considering this definition, we can list all the major arcs.

Note that, as we have already said, we name a major arc by its endpoints and another point on the arc. Therefore, we can have different names for the same arc. Although the ones mentioned above are all of the major arcs in the diagram, they may have different names.
