Exercise 47 Page 779

A semicircle is half of a circle.

Example Solution: SRQ, STQ

Practice makes perfect
An arc is a part of a circle. One type of arc, a semicircle, is half of a circle. We name a semicircle by its endpoints and another point on the arc. Considering this definition, we can list all the semicircles.

Note that, as we have already said, we name a semicircle by its endpoints and another point on the arc. Therefore, we can have different names for the same semicircle. Although the ones mentioned above are all the semicircles in the diagram, they may have different names.
