To solve the equation, we have to isolate p on one side. Using the Addition Property of Equality, we will add 4 to both sides of the equation. This will eliminate the subtraction on the left-hand side of the equation and isolate p.
p - 4 = -6
p - 4 + 4 = -6 + 4
p+0=-2
p=-2
