2.25(4x-4)=-2+10x+12

Distribute 2.25

9x-9=-2+10x+12

Add terms

9x-9=10+10x

Now we can continue to solve using the Properties of Equality.

9x-9=10+10x

LHS-9x=RHS-9x

9x-9-9x=10+10x-9x

Subtract terms

-9=10+x

LHS-10=RHS-10

-9-10=10+x-10

Subtract terms

-19=x

Rearrange equation

x=-19

The equation has one solution, x=-19.
