Use the Addition Property of Equality to eliminate the subtraction.

To solve the equation, we have to isolate y on one side. Using the Addition Property of Equality, we will add 7 to both sides of the equation. This will eliminate the subtraction and isolate y.

LHS+7=RHS+7

y-7+7=3+7

y=10

To check that this solution is correct, let's substitute y= 10 into the original equation and simplify.

y - 7 =3
Substitute

y= 10

10 - 7? =3
