Exercise 47 Page 279

Determine the ratios of the consecutive y-values and find the y-intercept.

y=2(7)^x

Practice makes perfect
We want to write an exponential function represented by the given table. To do so, let's calculate the increase in the x-values and the ratio between consecutive y-values.

The y-values increase by a factor of 7 as x increases by 1. Moreover, note that when x=0, we have that y=2. This means the y-intercept is 2. We have enough information to write the exponential function. y= 2( 7)^x
