Example Solution: y+2=5(x+8)

An equation in point-slope form follows a specific format. y- y_1= m(x- x_1) In this form, m is the slope and the point ( x_1, y_1) lies on the line. We are given the point ( -8, -2) and the slope 5. We have everything we need to create a point-slope form equation.

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)
