What does it mean when an equation has only one variable term?
Let's use this equation and substitute a few arbitrary values for x. Doing so will generate some coordinate pairs for us to use in our graph.
x | 0x+1y=-5 | Simplify | (x,y) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 0( 1)+1y=-5 | y=-5 | ( 1,-5) |
3 | 0( 3)+1y=-5 | y=-5 | ( 3,-5) |
5 | 0( 5)+1y=-5 | y=-5 | ( 5,-5) |
Now, we will plot these points and connect them with a line to form our graph.
