Practice makes perfect
When calculating probability, we are comparing the number of favorable outcomes to the number of possible outcomes. To calculate the probability that a randomly chosen teacher is a science teacher we will use the Probability Formula. P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible OutcomesAt the conference, there is a total of 12 math, 9 science, 3 music, and 6 social studies teachers. The sum of these values is the number of possible outcomes. 12+9+3+6= 30 teachers Out of these, 9 are science teachers, so the number of favorable outcomes is 9. Now we have enough information to calculate P(science).
P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible Outcomes
P(science)=9/30
P(science)=3/10
The probability of choosing a science teacher is 310.
