When calculating a probability, we are comparing the number of favorable outcomes to the number of possible outcomes. To calculate the probability of obtaining a 4 when rolling the number cube we will use the Probability Formula. P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible OutcomesWe know that on the cube there are 6 numbers in total. This is the number of possible outcomes. Now we have to find the number of outcomes where the number rolled is exactly equal to 4. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Out of these, there is only 1 such outcome, which is the number of favorable outcomes. Now we have enough information to calculate P(4).
P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible Outcomes
P(4)=1/6
The probability of rolling a 4 on the cube is 16, which can also be written as 1:6.
