How can you check whether a polygon is convex?

Type of Polygon: Octagon
Convex or Concave: Concave
Regular or Irregular: Irregular

Practice makes perfect
This polygon has eight sides, so it is called an octagon. Let's draw the lines containing the sides to check whether they have points in the interior of the polygon.

Since all of the lines containing sides of the polygon pass through the interior of the polygon, we know that it is concave. Because the polygon is not convex, it is an irregular octagon.
