Equivalent expressions are equal no matter what number is substituted for the same variable in the expressions. Consider the given expression. 3(x+7) There are many ways we can look at this expression. First, we can see it as the product of two factors. One way to get an equivalent expression is to use the Distributive Property. 3(x+7)&=3(x)+3(7) &=3x+21 There are other properties, or combinations of properties, that can be used to write equivalent expressions.
