What similarities and differences do parallel lines have?
y=1/2x+8
When lines are parallel they have the same slope. With this, we know that all lines that are parallel to our given line will have a slope of 12.
y=1/2x-7
If we write the desired equation in slope-intercept form, y=mx+b, we can add this slope.
x= -6, y= 5
1/b* a = a/b
Calculate quotient
LHS+3=RHS+3
Rearrange equation
Now that we have the y-intercept, we can write the equation of the line parallel to y= 12 x-7 that passes through (-6,5). y=1/2x+ 8
