What information does a slope-intercept form equation give us?
Graph:
x-intercept: - 2
y= 2x + 4 The slope is 2 and the y-intercept is 4.
A slope of 2 means that for every 1 unit we move in the positive horizontal direction, we move 2 units in the positive vertical direction. m⇒ rise/run=2/1 To graph the equation, plot the y-intercept and then use the slope to find another point on the line.
Now that we have graphed the given function, we can use our graph to identify the x-intercept. This is the point at which the line intercepts the x-axis.
The line crosses the axis at (-2,0) so the x-intercept is -2.
