Exercise 50 Page 10

In an ordered pair, the x-coordinate comes first and the y-coordinate comes second.

In an ( x, y) ordered pair, the first number shows the x-coordinate and the second number shows the y-coordinate.

1st point

Our first point is ( 1, 2). The x-coordinate " 1" tells us to move one unit in the positive horizontal direction. The y-coordinate " 2" tells us to move two units in the positive vertical direction.

2nd point

Now, we want to graph ( - 4, 3). The x-coordinate " - 4" tells us to move four units in the negative horizontal direction. The y-coordinate " 3" tells us to move three units in the positive vertical direction.

3rd point

Let's move to ( - 5, 0). The x-coordinate " - 5" tells us to move five units in the negative horizontal direction. The y-coordinate " 0" tells us not to move the vertical direction.

Final graph

Now that we found all points, we can show them on one graph.
