Exercise 42 Page 10

a We are given an orthographic drawing and asked to create an isometric drawing of the figure. Let's start with drawing the front side.

Now we can continue to draw in the top and right edges to complete the figure.

b We are asked to draw an isometric drawing of the given figure after a 90^(∘) turn counterclockwise. After the turn, the left side, one of the sides we previously weren't able to see fully, will become the front side. Let's draw the new front and top sides first.

Now we can continue to draw in the right edges to complete the figure.

c Now, we are asked to create an isometric drawing of the figure we created in Part B. Let's look at the shapes of the sides from the top, front, and right view.
d Finally, we are asked to create an isometric and orthographic drawing of the figure from Part A after an 180^(∘) turn. Notice that when the figure is rotated by that amount, the back side will be the front and the left side will be the right. Let's start by drawing in the new front and right sides.

Now we can draw in the top and back edges to complete the figure.

Another option would be to take the drawing we did from Part B and rotate another 90^(∘). Two rotations of 90 ^(∘) would be the same as a rotation of 180^(∘).
